Nǐ hǎo! Nǐ hǎo ma? Xiè xiē Zài jiàn! Mandarin Conversation Class (Beginning) is designed for adult students who have no Chinese language experience before. This class will start with teaching Chinese pronunciation system, Pin-Yin, and move on teaching daily conversation and communication in Mandarin. Topics include, but not limited to, greetings, asking names, talking about family, time and date, shopping, asking for directions, etc. Instruction will be focusing on teaching listening and speaking, while at the same time, some Chinese characters will be taught as well. Information about Chinese culture will also be introduced in classroom. 2/3 time on Pinyin. 1/3 on conversation The textbook we are going to use is called “CONVERSATIONAL CHINESE 301” which is an intensive, well thought out two-volume beginning course for adult learners. The lessons develop an 800-word vocabulary and 301 basic conversational sentence patterns. On completion, the student should be able to carry on simple conversations, and will have acquired a solid foundation for further study.
